About
Blog of the Darned is where I try to examine the humor in everyday things. The topics may be a little all-over-the-place, as I just write about whatever strikes me kind of funny at the time. There may be times when I write about things that are not funny, but I don’t think that will be often.
blogofthedarned.com is the third blog I’ve done under this name. The first incarnation of Blog of the Darned started in 2005 and at the time, the tagline that went along with Blog of the Darned was “until I think of something better.” Well, I never did and the name started to grow on me. Everything was fine and dandy until it stopped working in September 2008. All of the material is still there. The problem was that when I logged in, there was some sort of error, and a blank page loaded. Everything displays just fine. I just couldn’t post anything new. I tried to upgrade Word Press and a number of other things to fix it, but Word Press and php are a bit out of my league.
I finally decided that it was easier to install a new blog, Son of Blog of the Darned, than continue trying to fix the old one. I actually took blogging more to heart with extremely short-lived Son of Blog of the Darned. I was updating several times a week, a schedule I could never keep up for very long with the first incarnation of the blog. I got it working at the end of November 2008, and updated on a regular basis all through December. Then, on New Year’s Eve day, while sitting in front of the TV, I did something supremely stupid. I didn’t like the way the footer was appearing, so I tried to fix it by editing the php. Big mistake. One thing lead to another, and I managed to get it so screwed up that even my ISP reloading a backup of the page couldn’t undo the chaos I had wrought.
Thus, blogofthedarned.com was born. I figured that if I was going to have to install a new blog for the third time. I might as well get a domain name and and do it right (and hopefully have the sense to not try to mess with things this time).
Why am I telling you all of this? Well, I do have some of Son of Blog of the Darded posts backed up (about ten posts are gone for good). I have reloaded some of the posts, and I will try to reload more as time goes on. I might even try to reload posts from the first version of Blog of the Darned, but don’t hold your breath. Thus, new post might appear in the past as I reload the ones I have backed up. There might even be posts that appear as new and then disappear, only to reappear later in the past as I change the dates to the dates where they originally appeared.
